Used to prevent conception

The objects used to prevent conception are called contraceptives. Contraceptives can be used for man and woman.

The only used contraceptive for men is a condom. A condom is a material usually made of latex that is worn on the penis of a man. Latex is the material of choice since it is flexible and is able to resist friction wearout. It is usually rolled from the tip of the penis until near the base of it.

For women there are many choices, these include the following:

  • Copper T - it is a contraceptive made up of a plastic in a shape of T with a coil of copper on it. It is placed in the uterus of a woman and is able to prevent conception through the coppers spermicidal action.
  • Injectables - there are contraceptive for women that can be injected regularly that prevents conception through hormonal changes in the body.
  • Pills - these alter the hormonal levels of women which prevents the release of egg cell to be fertilized
  • Female condom - this is a cup-shaped that catches the sperm before it enters the uterus of the female. It is inserted in the vagine of the female.
