What are the processes of cell cycle?Describe. The cell cycle has two major processes in it: the interphase and the cell division. The interphase is the preparation stage of the cell before it proceeds to cell cycle. Lets tackle them one by one. Interphase - composed of three stages, namely G1 phase, S phase, and G2 phase. G1 phase - also known as growth 1 or gap 1 phase . In this stage the cell increases in size and the number of organelles start to double. This is in preparation of the production of two daughter cells at the end of the cell cycle. S phase - also known as synthesis phase . In this stage, the cell replicates its DNA and synthesises proteins for use in the latter parts of the cycle. G2 phase - the growth 2 or gap 2 phase . In this stage the cell continues to increase in size and there will be a checkpoint of organelles and cell materiasl before the cell division is initiated. Cell division - there are two kinds of cell division, mitosis (for body cells) an...
